Russia reacts to G7 countries' demarche on Alexey Navalny

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in response to the G7 countries' demarche in connection with the situation over Russian opposition politician Alexey Navalny.

"We persistently seek from the German side to provide data from A. Navalny's medical examination, including information on the results of biochemical studies," in accordance with the official request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia for legal assistance dated August 27, 2020, the MFA noted adding that despite all their appeals, Berlin has not considered it possible to respond promptly and constructively to them.

"Russian doctors also propose to establish a close dialogue with German colleagues to discuss the data available in Russia and Germany on the state of A. Navalny. Unfortunately, the German side is hindering this process," the statement added.
