Turkey may establish naval base in occupied northern Cyprus

Turkey may establish a naval base in the occupied northern Cyprus.

The team of experts is exploring the area to locate such a base.

According to the source, Turkish experts, which include members of the Turkish Armed Forces, conduct reconnaissance near the city of Famagusta, located 35–40 kilometers from the Iskele Strait. Plans include the construction of new military districts and naval facilities, but without an ammunition depot.

The naval base on the island will reportedly strengthen the rapid deployment of ships and accelerate their maintenance, repair and supply, while ensuring the long-term deployment of naval and air elements.
